Sculpture and Objects - Stephen Soreff

Stephen Soreff work is remarkable in its diversity of ideas and concepts. He has, in his work, reconstructed the whole world of inventions, projects, discoveries and esoteric disciplines. As an object maker he has been involved with multiples, self re-constituting sand paintings and other fine ideas such as the "Infotrope". He conceived of the virtual reality head gear before it was ever actually invented. Recently he has explored a new way of divining the future in a series of long I Ching like puzzles that require the viewer to participate and find out his destiny. Art for Stephen Soreff is a constant battle between reality as it is and as he thinks it should be: wonderful, amazing and joyful.

Mr. Soreff has been exhibiting since l970. He has been a panelist, video artist, commentator and exhibiting artist in over 100 group exhibits and dozens of one man exhibits that include galleries and museums in New York, New Jersey, California, Fairfield, Conn., East Hampton, Baltimore, Cambrdige, Mass., and in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Australia, etc. He received a Macdowell Fellowship, Project and residency from deAppel Founation, Amsterdam; Dorland Mountain Art Colony; etc..
